WINTER CONCERT -- December 16, 2010 -- Our annual Winter Concert performance will be held at the Armstrong Theater. It will be a joint concert with the South High Choir. Tickets will go on sale approximately one month prior to the performance, giving students plenty of time to sell tickets to family, friends and neighbors. You'll want to make this musical treat a holiday tradition!

SOUTH AREA FESTIVAL -- Date TBD -- This fun-filled evening features performances from Richardson Middle School, Calle Mayor Middle School and South High! This event is always a real hit! Don't miss it!

SPRING CONCERT -- TBD -- Our Concert Band & Wind Ensemble will perform at our annual Spring Concert. Location TBD. Tickets will go on sale approximately one month prior to the performance.

Grade Level: 9, 10, Year Course – 10 Credits Prerequisite: Two years of study on a band instrument through middle school band program or private instruction. UC/CSU Approved “f” The Advanced Band is designed to advance the musical skills and instrumental techniques of all incoming freshman band students. It is designed to transition students from the middle school K-8 band programs to the high school band. The band performs at concerts, contests, and festivals. Participation in performances and concurrent enrollment in Marching Band is required as part of this course. After successful completion, students will advance to Wind Ensemble through the recommendation of the South High School Band Director. Advanced Band members must concurrently enroll in the Spartan Marching Band which meets two nights per week during the fall semester.

Advanced 10th, 11th, and 12th grade instrumental music students will be recommended to enroll by the South High Band Director after successful completion of Advanced Band. The Wind Ensemble performs at concerts, contests, and festivals. Participation in performances and concurrent enrollment in Marching Band is required for this course. Wind Ensemble members must concurrently enroll in the Spartan Marching Band which meets two nights per week during the fall semester.
